Portsmouth June 1, 2012 1 year ago #1987

Review from The News, Portsmouth and

Brit Floyd
Portsmouth Guildhall, June 1, 2012

SHINING like crazy diamonds on this sparking jubilee weekend, Brit Floyd were flawless and astounding.
Musically perfect, visually awesome, the show recreates the legendary, enigmatic band in its many forms, from '60s psychedelic pop band to '80s stadium-straddling behemoth and the reunited dream-come-true of Live 8.
At times the hall seemed to melt away as rainbows of lights raked, spun and spiralled around an entranced audience.
The familiar circular screen was put to great effect with moody visuals, and, for the blissful Comfortably Numb, the world's biggest mirror ball.
Many present, like me, were doubtless devoted Floyd fans, who realise that, solo projects aside, this is as close to Pink Floyd as we will now ever get.
Musical director and guitarist Damian Darlington clearly knows every detail, every nuance of every Floydian moment, and the band's execution of all the greatest hits makes each familiar track sound fresh and pristine.
Highlights kept coming, but the slow build and chiming crescendo of Echoes was euphoric. The angry, disillusioned Falklands lament of The Fletcher Memorial Home, was, for Portsmouth, particularly poignant.
Few tribute bands can look forward to standing ovations, but Brit Floyd, the state of the art, deserved theirs. A gem of a rock show.

Simply stunning, from start to finish. Damian and Bobby are superb and just get better and better. Seen Brit floyd and Aussie Floyd about 10 times, but thats the first time Ola's Great gig made the hairs on the back on my neck stand up. Just like to say thank you all very much for making this night such a great experience, and for keeping the Floyd music LIVE. I didn't catch the young ladies name singing next to Ola, can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks for that. Went into the gig a bit down came out feeling on top of the world. There really are some talanted musicians in this country and Brit Floyd are at the top to my mind.

Saw them for the first time in Sheffield. Sounds like they are constantly 'Prog Rocking Out' up and down the country.

Glad you guys and gals enjoyed the show as much as we did.

Cheers

PS Ola's Gig in the sky was epic. Cant agree more.
