Cambridge Corn Exchange - 02/06/2012 1 year ago #2022

New member to the forum but just wanted to comment on the gig at the Corn Exchange last weekend in Cambridge.

3rd time seeing the band now, last year at Cambridge, RAH last May and CCE again.

What can I say; the occasion just seems to get better and better. We were lucky enough to have front row seats last week, wasn't sure if that was going to be good or bad, but it ceetainly made for a different viewpoint, right in front of Damien, the light show lost none of its magic and the sound was excellent, as always. I usually go with my 18 year old lad but took the missus this time round, she is not a listener of the music but she was mesmerised by the show and definitely wants to go again.

Highlights? Shine on as the opener always makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck, High Hopes, just because it is my all time favourite, Pigs...... fantastic and then Great Gig, which is an obvious choice but was flawless as always and then the last side of the wall...... I cannot get vera Lynn out of my head and find myself singing it in all manner of places.

Special mention for Squeaky Gate..... another great showing from them and a chance to play some older Syd stuff. Because of that and the RAH gig I am now going to be helping out there soon hopefully and I am looking forward to it.

Already looking forward to the new dates for the next tour and if anyone is reading this and wondering if they should take the chance and go see the band...... don't hesitiate, book your tickets. Best £30 you will ever spend!

I was sitting at the back in the stalls, but in the raised seating behind the mix desk. Great view, great sound. Thought it was terrific when the large glitter ball was lowered above the mix desk during Comfy, but did not see many of the audience seated towards the front turning around to look, wonder if they noticed it was there, being mesmorised by Damian's solo... The glitter ball 'speckles' on the walls turned the whole of the grand old Corn Ex building into the world's biggest disco! Rosemary on stage too..40 years since Syd's last gig, in the same venue.
