The classi crock show sounds just the thing for an aged muso like myself although I'm not sure that I'm that 'classi' .... but I'm certainly a 'crock' (yes Nick, I did say 'Crock')
Looking forward to the first show in Cambridge next Friday ....

Last night at Leicester de Montfort Hall exceeded all of my expectations and then some. Just three shows into their UK tour, they sounded like they had been on the road for years, with a setlist that effortlessly plundered Supertramp, Dire Straits, Led Zep, Steely Dan, Genesis, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Who (setlist below). The show is punctuated with animations of Skippy chilling out to his record collection, but during the numbers, the music says it all.

It's almost impossible to single out any part of the show, but I'll try. The Dire Straits section was perfection, with Howie G doing an amazing Mark Knofler, both vocally and on guitar. The Led Zep tracks rocked up to the interval in style, finishing with a stunning Stairway to Heaven. Damian's customary showstopper, Comfortably Numb was on fire as ever, but was topped by Bobby Harrison and Howie on duelling guitars during Freebird, followed by an even more amazing Won't Get Fooled Again.

Vocalists Andy Gibson, Carl Sentance and Amy Smith handled everything with ease and added a great stage presence. The Swiss Army knife of the band, Carl Brunsdon lent his talents on sax, percussion and bass. The twin keyboards of Rob Stringer and Rick Benbow rocked and, last but not least, Arrun Ahmun was relentless on the drum kit, taking on some of the most challenging drum parts in rock history.

If you've got any doubts about going to see a 'covers' band, think again. This is one of the best live rock shows you will ever see, played by the most amazing musicians, each road hardened by thousands of live shows across the world. If you're getting the impression I liked it a little bit, you'd be right.

Thanks for the review Nick - the set list reads like a rock fan's ultimate wet dream!

However, why are they calling themselves the Australian Classic Rock Show? I can only surmise that the link can only be with Skippy (originally to be found at TAPFS gigs) and his creator Brian? Other than that, I can only guess they are looking to cash in on the original Aussies reputation?

To the best of my understanding, the show was planned and venues booked before the TAPFS/TBPFS split when the whole thing was still under the CMP flag. The band's domain name doesn't have an Aussie connotation; it remains to be seen whether they continue with the name during future tours.

I do think it is unfortunate that fans are discussing the name more than the music, this is an outstanding show whatever the hell they are called.
